Amer Fort is one of the largest and magnificent forts in the country, it is located near Jaipur and its beauty can amaze a person at its very first sight. Amer Fort is one of the best tourist destinations not only in Jaipur but also in Rajasthan. Made of red sandstone and marble, this fort has four floors. There are separate courtyards on each floor.

It is believed that it was originally built by the Meenas, which was later ruled by King Mansingh I. Amer Fort is renowned for its distinct combination of Mughal and Hindu architecture.

It consists of the Diwan-e-Aam, or “Hall of Public Audience”, the Diwan-e-Khas, or “Hall of Private Audience”, the magnificent Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace), and the Sukh Niwas where winds that blow over a water cascade within the palace create a peaceful and calm ambience.

This beautiful structure is the reason why the Amber fort is referred to as the Amber Palace. It was the house of Rajput Maharajas and their families. The Amber palace and Jaigarh Fort are located above the Cheel ka Teela which means the hill of eagles. The breathtaking view of the surrounding Aravalli ranges makes for scenic beauty.

Today, Amber fort is Rajasthan’s biggest tourist attractions. Tourists from not only the country but also from all over the world come to see this fort. The Amber Fort is visited by thousands of tourists both from India and outside India, it is a famous tourist spot for everyone. Amer Fort was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site which makes it a famous tourist spot of the country.

A number of Bollywood films have also been shot in this fort, including Bajirao Mastani, Mughal Azam, Jodha Akbar, Shuddh Desi Romance, Bhul Bhulaiya, etc., apart from some Hollywood films like North West Frontier, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel etc. Shooting has also been done here.

There is also a light show at Amer Fort for this, a separate fee will have to be paid. 200 for a light show in English and Rs 100 for a Hindi show. You will have to spend 1100 rupees for the elephant ride.
